The danger of e-cigarettes

A recent study has revealed their potential harmful repercussions, among other things on the oral, pulmonary and cardiovascular systems.

These include imbalances in the oral microbiome, an increase in heart rate and a risk of addiction to nicotine, a substance almost always present in electronic cigarettes.

Admittedly, the e-cigarette is often considered preferable to the traditional cigarette because it releases fewer toxic substances during its use. However, while some consider it a step to quit smoking, it can also be used as a first step by non-smokers.

It seems that the initial use of the e-cigarette is correlated with an increased risk of starting to smoke conventional cigarettes and of smoking cigarettes during the following 30 days, which implies that the electronic cigarette would promote a transition to tobacco*.

In conclusion, with or without e, cigarettes should be banned! !

If you want to quit smoking, Médicis offers tobacco consultations with Mrs. Luisa Pereira, tobacco specialist, or with Dr. Evrard, ENT.
